Online Readings from the Fountain of Pens Playwriting Circle
YouTube Launch
April 7, 2021

13 intrepid playwrights tackled their scripts with facilitators Liesl Lafferty and Jenn Griffin in the 10-week Fountain of Pens Playwriting Circle. The writers explored craft, process, and tools of the trade, and workshopped and refined their material. On April 7, the circle culminates with a Virtual Gold LOOK! public online reading of the scenes they have developed, and you’re invited to join in on YouTube!

THE SELFISH GIANT

with Bernard Cuffling

Listen! Start Easter weekend off with The Selfish Giant, a pastoral short story by Oscar Wilde. Not only is it a classic treasure, but also a true Easter treat—made even more so when read and interpreted by Bernard Cuffling.

For the Trivia Buff:
Before being imprisoned for homosexuality and sent to hard labour in 1895 after one of the most notorious trials in English history, Wilde was married to Constance Lloyd. Inspired by Hans Christian Anderson, he wrote The Selfish Giant and other fairy stories immediately after the birth of his two boys, Cyril and Vyvyan.

Read by Bernard Cuffling. Directed by Seamus Fera. Sound and Editing by Stephen Bulat and Mixed Media Productions
