Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 6:00 pm PDT | 9.00 pm EDT

Moderated by Howard Jang, Unapologetically Asian is a frank and honest roundtable conversation with five of our country’s most respected Asian theatre artists. By celebrating our triumphs, revealing our challenges, and sharing our vision for the future, we hope to create visibility for Asian artists and deepen the understanding of the Asian experience in the Canadian theatre industry.

The roundtable will be live-streamed on YouTube. You will be able to join the roundtable discussion on May 6 at 6:00 pm PDT / 9:00 pm EDT via this link.

New Play Reading
Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 7:00 pm (PDT)

Join WGT as we celebrate Asian Heritage Month by presenting a workshop performance of a play by a local Asian-Canadian playwright.

We put out a call for submissions and were thrilled by the response from our local community of talented playwrights. As well as highlighting an Asian playwright, the submission call asked that the chosen play fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Highlight and/or celebrate Asian heritage
  • Give opportunities to Asian artists
  • Give opportunities to Senior artists
  • Fulfill any of Western Gold Theatre’s Mandates or Objectives

The play reading will be streamed live via YouTube.

Stay tuned for more details and to see what amazing new work we have in store for you!
